EFI Chief Technology Officer Named 2005 Reed Technology Medalist

SEWICKLEY, Pa. & FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2006--The Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) and EFI (NASDAQ:EFII) today announce that Ghilad Dziesietnik, chief technology officer of EFI, and chairman of the industry consortium PODi, has been named the recipient of the 2005 Robert F. Reed Technology Medal. The medal was established in 1974 by the Ben Franklin Society (formerly the Society of Fellows) of PIA/GATF. EFI is the world leader in digital controllers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions.

"Mr. Dziesietnik has been awarded our Robert F. Reed Technology Medal because of his major contribution to technical and scientific development within the graphic arts industry," said George H. Ryan, EVP & COO, PIA/GATF. "Commemorating the 'Dean of Lithography,' Robert F. Reed, the award goes to Mr. Dziesietnik for his many patents and technological advances in the digital printing and variable data-printing arena."

Among his many accomplishments, Dziesietnik's leadership and technological insight has been instrumental in EFI's achieving and maintaining its position as a world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing. When Ghilad joined EFI in 1995, there were 25,000 Fiery controllers installed worldwide, and today the global installation base exceeds 1.4 million Fiery controllers.

Dziesietnik holds many patents, particularly in the area of variable data printing. He greatly contributed to many EFI technology breakthroughs, including the innovation that produced the Fiery that is the fastest and most advanced server in the digital production market today. This Fiery server, which delivers a high level of performance for producing complex documents, is categorically ideal for mission-critical, high-speed, commercial, and variable data printing production environments.

Since his appointment in 2000, Dziesietnik has served as chairman of PODi, a non-profit strategic initiative focused on evangelizing digital printing technology and services, leading the evolution of digital printing infrastructure by promoting interoperability through standards. He has delivered numerous presentations on unified digital workflow, printing standards, and variable-data printing technologies. He holds an E.E. and M.S.C. in electrical engineering from the University of Tel-Aviv, Israel.

The Robert F. Reed Technology Medal will be presented at the 2006 TAGA Conference, Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Four Seasons Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
