Latest-Generation EFI Fiery Server Drives New Xerox Color Mid-Production Digital Press; Award-Winning Fiery Server's Advanced Workflow, Color VDP and Production Capabilities Optimize Xerox DocuColor 5000 Launched at On Demand

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 2006--EFI (Nasdaq:EFII), the world leader in digital controllers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, today announced the availability of the Fiery® EXP50 designed to drive Xerox Corporation's new 50 ppm DocuColor® 5000 Digital Press. The Fiery delivers industry-leading color management, consistent high quality output and workflow innovation to Xerox DocuColor 5000 customers, including in-house print facilities, print-for-pay, and commercial printers with mid-range production needs. The DocuColor 5000 and Fiery EXP50 will be shown at the Xerox reseller Enovation's On Demand Booth #3331.

Among the Fiery EXP50 features are professional tools including: the fastest, most open VDP workflow, WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) imposition, precision Graphic Arts tools to produce premium quality color, and the optional Production Printing Package, a set of advanced production management tools that optimize the Fiery's power to deliver the fastest output in extreme print production.

        productivity-enhancing tools. The Fiery Advanced Controller
        Interface kit enables Command WorkStation to be run locally at
        the Fiery, making it ideal for operator-centric environments.

    --  EFI Impose, Fiery Edition is a WYSIWYG client/server-based
        imposition application that enables entire documents to be
        imposed, edited and assembled quickly, before RIPping the
        files. Providing the unique ability to create an unlimited
        number of new custom imposition templates, this feature is
        independent of platform, application and file format, and
        supports a wide variety of source documents, including all VDP

    --  Variable Data Printing -- the Fiery EXP50 provides
        industry-leading VDP performance, enabling DocuColor 5000
        customers to efficiently create customized marketing
        campaigns. The EFI VDP solution is open, flexible, scaleable,
        and includes the most comprehensive, proven range of VDP
        languages -- Fiery FreeForm, industry standard PPML, Xerox
        VIPP, and a host of legacy proprietary languages. The EFI VDP
        solution enables the EXP50 to seamlessly integrate into
        existing variable data workflows and ensures consistency
        regardless of whether the job is VDP or non-VDP.

    --  Improved Security -- Fiery security features for the Xerox
        DocuColor 5000 Digital Press include:

        --  Secure Erase to remove all traces of job data from the
            Fiery hard disk drive;

        --  IP Filtering to control access to the printing device;

        --  Paper Catalog is a system-based paper warehouse database
            included with the Package. Automating media control and
            easing operator intervention, Paper Catalog stores
            attributes of the entire media stock available at the
            warehouse of a production site.
